1. Colony Management and Breeding: Gestroi reproduce readily when provided with optimal conditions, such as appropriate humidity, temperature, and abundant food. They are live-bearing creatures, meaning they give birth to tiny juveniles rather than laying eggs.

2. Habitat Setup: Gestroi prefers temperatures between 68°F and 75°F (20°C to 24°C), which mimic the mild climates of their natural habitat. Avoid exposing them to extreme heat, as temperatures above 80°F (27°C) can lead to stress and potentially death. Similarly, keep them away from freezing temperatures. Armadillidium Gestroi thrives in a substrate that maintains a balance of moisture and aeration. A mixture of organic compost, coconut coir, and decomposing leaf litter is ideal. You can also add sphagnum moss and small amounts of calcium-rich materials, such as crushed eggshells or cuttlebone, to provide the necessary minerals for healthy exoskeleton development. If necessary, you can use a small heat mat under one corner of the tank to ensure warmth during colder months but avoid heating the entire enclosure.

3. Feeding and Nutrition: Armadillidium gestroi are primarily detritivores, meaning they consume decaying organic matter. A varied diet will help them thrive, and ensuring they have access to calcium is essential for their exoskeleton development. Here's a breakdown of their dietary needs: Decaying leaves, rotting wood, bark, and Fresh vegetables (zucchini, carrots, cucumbers, and potatoes), algae wafers, and fish flakes. Ensure that any uneaten fresh food is removed after a few days to avoid mold and bacterial growth.
